BEIJING - Canada’s Kaetlyn Osmond and China’s own Jin Boyang took the lead on the first day of the Cup of China on Friday, the penultimate heat of the ISU Grand Prix of figure skating. The 20-year-old 2014 Winter Olympic team silver medalist said simply of her performance "there’s a couple small things I wish I could change". Osmond has a slim margin over Russia’s Elena Radionova on 70.75 and Japan’s Mai Mihara in third place with her season best 68.48. His 96.17 score was over 20 points above his season best (72.93) and gave him a huge 12.70 point margin over Daniel Samohin in second place with his season best despite a point deduction at 83.47. The first skater to perform a quadruple Lutz-triple toeloop combination at an ISU competition, at last year’s Cup of China, Jin has even more ambitious plans for tomorrow’s free skate.
